Do You Know Your Breasts? Watch This Video
Breast health and awareness is SO important, and we’re going to be doing more in-depth coverage on preventative measures you can take against breast cancer and just overall ways to maintain healthy breasts. But for now, we wanted our first post to be an invitation to get to know your breasts better.
According to the Breast Health Project, the American Cancer Society stopped recommending breast exams and now recommends ‘breast awareness’. On the Breast Health Project Website, you can learn to understand and become familiar with your breasts differently, and take care of them through breathing, movement and energy exercises, as well as lymphatic breast massage. We highly recommend checking them out in more detail here.
However, we are also going to encourage self-exams, because even though they aren’t known to decrease breast cancer fatalities overall, they do allow you to be familiar enough with your breasts to notice unusual changes and report them, much faster than at your annual exams.
This great video below manages to challenge the stupidity of censoring women’s breasts at the same time, which is a win-win in our eyes. However, we have one small note: The video suggests a mammogram at the end; we instead are supporters of breast thermography as a safer method, despite still being contested by the mainstream medical community. But more on that in our future blogs!
