We also have debated why the recent studies do not bring any new information to the table and why coconut oil is still considered a healthy oil if part of a good and balanced lifestyle and diet.

So if you have been looking for a way to incorporate coconut oil into your food, or play around with new recipes, here are 3 of our favourite.

1- Super Moist Banana Bread

Because it tolerates high temperatures, coconut oil can be used instead of all kinds of unhealthy shortenings and margarines along with replacing butter and oils. When you use it for baking, it gives the recipe a special fluffiness on top of the unique fragrance of coconut oil.

 

To make this super moist banana bread, you will need:

1 ½ cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

A pinch of salt

½ cup virgin coconut oil

1 cup yogurt cheese, or cream cheese

1 cup coconut sugar

1 egg

2 medium-size bananas

2- Nutty Grains and Oat Bar

If you love your oats and like to start doing your own pre-workout bars, this recipe is for you.

 

You will need:

6 large dates, pitted and chopped

1 cup pure maple syrup

2 tablespoons coconut oil

2 cups oats

½ cup raw almonds, hazelnuts, pecans, walnuts or cashews

½ cup shelled pumpkin seeds

2 tablespoons amaranth

½ teaspoon salt

3- Strawberry Smoothie Recipe

Sip on healthy fruit juices spiked with coconut oil for the ultimate benefits!

 

For that you will need:

1 cup almond or coconut milk (water works too)

1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries

½ fresh or frozen banana

½ tablespoon coconut oil

 

Optional add-ons:

1 cup spinach, kale, or other leafy green

A pinch of salt

1 serving of your preferred protein and/or green superfood powder

1 tablespoon cacao powder or nibs
